Children's Sunday Activities for 2010-2011

CHILDREN'S CHURCH
The children's church program is a graduated experience of learning which has the goal of helping children understand worship and participation in church life in age-appropriate forms. This year we have included an activities component every other week to our program. It is our hope that we will minister to the unique needs of children by increasing their opportunities to be active as we continue to seek to teach them about worship.

SUNDAY SCHOOL
This fall we will be studying Genesis with the children, examining God and the first families. Beginning with Advent in November, we will resume our desired path of  coordinating what we are studying with the children  with the homegroup studies as well as sermon series. Our intention is to unify the church, enable parents to more easily utilize Sunday school curriculum in their homes and enjoy a sense of church family life.

CHILDREN IN THE LARGER WORSHIP SERVICE
We are attempting to more meaningfully integrate the members of our church family in a number of ways. As such, a few Sundays each year, our elementary children join us in the larger adult worship service to learn, experience family worship, and to witness the faith of the adults in our body.  As a staff, we strive to collaborate in the planning of the adult services with children and youth in mind.

In the coming months, we would like the elementary children to stay in church a bit longer before going to Sunday School on some Sundays and perhaps schedule them to be participants in the entire service more often.  We are committed to being the body of Christ and allowing ourselves to be shaped by His Spirit in each of us, including the youngest members of our church. In addition, we want also to support parents as they are being shaped and changed through their season of home and family life. Our prayer is that our corporate worship time will support that.

If parents would like resources, ideas or help in planning for their children to be in the adult service, please feel free to contact Tricia Popp.
