Community ONE:27
Who We Are

We are a group of people who are dedicated to mobilizing our church to care for the orphan.  We are building an intentional orphan care culture through international orphan care, adoption and foster care.  Our mission is to defend the cause of the orphans by declaring God's mandate for their care and encouraging and equipping the church to take action.  Our passion is to equip believers from every stage of life to be involved in this mandate to defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow (Isaiah 1:17)."

What We Do

Community ONE:27 is committed to mobilizing our church to care for the orphan through International Orphan Care, Adoption, and Foster Care.  We want to be a resource to our community by providing information, training, and practical ways for all members of our community to be involved.  Through our Orphan Care and Adoption seminars, Adoption Story Nights, Journey Pack service projects, and Orphan Sunday in November we are striving to equip our community and encourage them to find ways to be involved no matter what season of life they are in.

A Few of Our Projects
Orphan Care and Adoption Seminar

Community ONE:27 is hosts a seminar for all people who are interested in intentionally caring for orphans. This seminar is not just for people who are adopting.  In collaboration with groups including LifeSong, Gold Coast Orphan Alliance, Angels Foster Care of Santa Barbara, County of Santa Barbara Social Services, Dark to Dawn, and Royal Family Kids Camp. We will cover international orphan care, adoption, foster care, financing adoption, respite care and practical ways to serve orphans and adoptive families locally. Registration and childcare will be provided at no cost. For more information, send an email to e-mail or call 805-563-1343.

Adoption Story Nights

Adoption Story Night is a casual evening of hearing stories from those people in our community that have adopted, been adopted, or are somehow caring for the orphan.  Please join us for one of these special nights to learn more about adoption, foster care and orphan care.

Journey Pack Service Project

The Gathering women’s ministry and Community ONE:27 joined together to assemble twenty-six Journey Packs for the foster youth in Santa Barbara County.  Journey Packs are backpacks filled with important and necessary supplies such as: sweatshirts, toiletries, school supplies, water bottles and stuffed animals.  These Journey Packs are being delivered to shelters in Santa Barbara and will be handed out to the children who are placed there.  The children, when taken from their homes, are placed in shelter care homes until other foster care homes are found.  The idea of Journey Packs comes from a former foster youth who is now 25 years old.  After discussing with her what Community ONE:27 can do to help the foster youth who are in the system now, she recommended making Journey Packs.  Community ONE:27 is very thankful to have the opportunity to join together with The Gathering to provide a tangible way to help foster youth on their journey.

Orphan Sunday

Each year in November on a specific Sunday the global church community comes together to educate and equip our churches to care for the overwhelming number of orphans in the world.  This is done through sermons, slideshows, worship, and events.  Community ONE:27 is dedicated to being a part of this every year in conjunction with our home church, Santa Barbara Community Church.

Santa Barbara Community Church Adoption Fund

We are in the process of establishing an adoption fund to help with the financial burden of domestic and international adoption.  Through Lifesong, the fund will generate match granted of up to $4000 and interest free loans.  If you are interested in applying for a loan please contact communityone27@gmail.com.
