Community Builders Vision Statement
This team will strive to help SBCC move towards its goal of being a healthy church family in which each person is experiencing and expressing the love of God. Because the love of God is felt most tangibly in a community of God's people, we desire to be a people known for their hospitality and service.

Community Builders Mission Statement
To provide opportunities for people of all ages and stages to be enfolded into the fellowship of the church, experiencing and expressing the love of Christ through relationship-fostering times of recreation and service.

Our very name - SB Community Church - implies two goals that we long to see lived out

1. That the church itself would be a vital community, experiencing and enjoying the fellowship that God has called us to embody.
2. That we would be a vital presence in the larger community in which we find ourselves (SB, Goleta).
To this end, we will plan, promote and participate in events that will:
a. provide an atmosphere for deeper, encouraging Christ-centered friendships to form within our body
b. provide an avenue of entry for seekers who are new to SBCC or have never been to SBCC

Participation in this core team will involve

1. A commitment to meet regularly with the team. We will meet bi-monthly(?) to share vision, strategize and pray for upcoming events as well as to inspire, encourage, and support each other in our walks with Jesus.
2. A commitment to actively engage in the events that are being planned. Whether hosting the event, praying, promoting, greeting, providing follow-up, or simply participating and recruiting others to participate, the members of this team will “own” the events.
3. A commitment to orient oneself toward the outsider on Sundays as well as at events. Noticing people on the fringe requires intention and attention. Knowing that our natural inclination is to comfort and familiarity, team members will strive to live out personally (not just at CB events) the kind of love God has for the lost and the lonely.

Key convictions

1. God's name is glorified when the church becomes a conduit of blessing to the larger community.
2. Christ's name is exalted when his compassion and love are put on display in the church.
3. The Holy Spirit is honored when believers rely on His power to humbly, sacrificially, and prayerfully serve each one another and offer the invitation to others to join the community of believers.
