Getting Connected at SBCC

There are many ways to meet people at SBCC and engage in life and service together as a church family.  Below are a few ideas to help you do so!  For questions about any of these, contact Deana Gilman in our church office (687-7797).

  • Linger after the service for a few minutes on the patio.  Consider introducing yourself to someone you don't know, or chatting with one of our pastors.
  • Join a homegroup.
  • Be a Sunday School "Friend" for a group of children a couple of Sundays a month.
  • Come to a Keenagers gathering.  They occur once a month.
  • Offer to help tutor public school students after school on the Eastside with Querencia Ministries, or with the Goleta Homework Club.
  • Be a Greeter for a Sunday service.
  • Mentor a person younger than yourself.
  • Offer to pray regularly for members of our church. You can request a specific list of prayer needs for almost any ministry within our church. Some even have prayer groups which you can consider joining. Consider praying for our Missions, for Women's Ministries, for the sick, for our youth, for our leadership or any other area which touches your heart.
  • If you are a man, come to Praxis meetings.
  • If you are a woman, join a women's Bible study or come to a StoryNight.
  • Invite someone from your homegroup or Bible study out for coffee.
  • Offer a ride to someone to church who needs it.
  • Help pull weeds at "Five Loaves Farm" or, even on our own church campus with others!
  • Serve alongside others from our church at local Community Service days.
  • Make a "date" with a staff member to hear more about what is going on in their areas of ministry.
  • If you have small children, join a playgroup or become a MOPS mom!
  • If you are new to the church, ask a staff member to introduce you to someone who lives near you.
  • Become a homegroup leader or a worship leader in a homegroup.
  • Join the crew and help click through worship slides a service once a month.
  • Meet lots of avid readers and serve in our church library.
  • Make freezer meals with a few other people for our Compassion Ministry.
  • Do a little gardening on our church campus with a group of other church members.
  • Help serve food or be on the team to plan an after-church BBQ.
