Summer Camp

Summer Camp 08 at Forest Home

SBCC Youth Ministries go to Forest Home for a weekend in the winter, and a week in the summer. We've been going to Forest Home as a church since 1995. We LOVE it there!

For our summer camps, it’s important to note that students go to camp according the grade they will be in for the fall. For example, current sixth graders sign up for junior high camp. A current 3rd grader will go to Indian Village.

Summer 08 camp dates:

High School (Lakeview) = June 15-21

Jr High (Creekside) = June 29-July 5

Adventure Mountain (5th/6th grades) = July 20-26

Indian Village (4th grade) = July 20-26

Go to www.foresthome.org to view their camp videos that  highlight the various camp properties.

To go to Forest Home with SBCC, you will need to contact our camp registrar, Karen McLean. Her number is 967-0461, her email is karen@sbcommunity.org.

SUMMER CAMP FAQ's

(Frequently Asked Questions)

Why does SBCC take students to Forest Home? Aren't there plenty of other camps out there?

We are blessed in Southern California to have a plethora of camping options. We selected Forest Home for several reasons:

1. Its close proximity to Santa Barbara (in comparison to other Christian camps).

2. Its long-term, proven commitment to solid Bible teaching.

3. Its cost.

4. Its size – the average size of summer camp is usually no more than 250. This allows the students to get to know the camp staff better, and allows students to interact with other campers.

5. Its camping philosophy of allowing us to use our own leaders as camp counselors. Many other camps require students to be counseled by their own staff counselors, who will not see our students again after the week of camp.

Who goes to camp with SBCC? We believe in going to camp! Camp serves to move relationships forward in our group - between students, between leaders and students, and in bringing in students who have not been involved in a church yet. Obviously, camp is also a great place for students to step away from their busy lives at home and grow in their relationships with God.

SBCC subsidizes the cost of each camper in that the church pays for each counselor and for the charter buses used to transport our groups to camp. While we are thankful to bring along any friends of our students who are not currently connected to a youth group (and therefore need to get involved!), we are not able to bring students from other youth groups. We strongly encourage members of other churches to ask their own youth ministries to plan trips to Forest Home :)
