Children’s Devotional Resources:

Pockets® (published by The Upper Room®) is a 48-page devotional magazine for children of elementary school age (6 to 12) It is designed for the personal use of children to help them grow in their relationship with God. The idea behind the name Pockets is that children put wonderful things in their pockets, and that this magazine for children is full of wonderful things (Focus groups of children helped to name the magazine).

Pockets was launched in 1981 in response to parents and grandparents who had expressed their desire for a devotional magazine for children of elementary school age (6 to 12). The magazine is published 11 times per year (January/February is the combined issue).

Partnering with Children's Ministries

Our desire in the Sunday activities is to teach children the Word, model a vital relationship with Christ and most importantly, provide resources families can use at home in discipleship. We want parents to know what their children are learning to enable them to incorporate the teaching into their plan for nurturing their child's spiritual life.

We also encourage parents to participate in the Sunday program to enhance their use of the materials and to provide more avenues for communication about the teaching at home. Parents are to be the substitutes for the regular teachers so be ready if you should get a call to help.
